Venus Williams is playing well at the Australian Open. Williams raced through the opening set in 35 minutes but was broken in the first game of the second to give hope Safarova would make a better fist of the match.
Serena’s sister Venus Williams beat Czech Lucie Safarova 6-2 6-2 to advance to the second round. The sixth-seeded Williams will try to improve on her last year’s result, when she was upset in the second round by Carla Suarez Navarro.
