Jim Leavitt usf coach fired

USF fired the only coach the Bulls have had in the program’s 13-year history following an investigation initiated after a FanHouse report that stated Leavitt grabbed sophomore walk on Joel Miller by the throat and hit the walk-on twice in the face Nov. 21 at halftime of the Louisville game.

A letter hand-delivered to the coach and released along with a report on the three-week probe said Leavitt’s dismissal was based in part on “independently corroborated statements of persons found to be in the best position to observe your conduct.”

USF joined the Big East in 2005 and has played in a bowl game every year since joining the league. Leavitt leaves with a record 95-57.
