A deal led by US President Barack Obama, and including China, was deemed inadequate by some of the leaders, who said it failed to deliver the required actions to halt climate change.
However, it had been rejected by a few developing nations which felt it failed to deliver the actions needed to halt dangerous climate change.
The proposed deal promised to deliver $30 billion (£18.5 billion) of aid for developing nations over the next three years, and outlined a goal of providing $100 billion a year by 2020 to developing countries. Reports from the summit say the main opposition to the deal came from the ALBA bloc of Latin American countries.
