cliff lee mariners

Foxsports.com is reporting that the Cliff Lee to Seattle trade is in place. According to the report, the Mariners receive Lee, Roy Halladay goes to Philadelphia and Seattle likely sends reliever Phillipe Aumont, who was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2007 draft, to Toronto. Outfielder Michael Saunders and starter Brandon Morrow are also said to be in play.

Multiple reports said earlier the Mariners were the third team in a three-team deal that would send left-handed starter Lee to Seattle.

Lee has one year at $9 million remaining on his contract. The left-hander fininshed 14-13 last season with a 3.22 ERA after a dismal start. He has pitched more than 200 innings in four of the last five seasons. He was the AL Cy Young winner in 2008 while with Cleveland.

With John Lackey likely to sign with the Red Sox, this would give the Mariners arguably the most formidable rotation in the AL West.
