Arsenal climbed into second place in the Premier League as they beat Aston Villa 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Cesc Fabregas came off the bench to score twice for Arsenal, before Abou Diaby rounded off the scoring with a third late on.
Fabregas was not fit enough to start the match but came on after a lacklustre first half and scored two excellent goals before going off 28 minutes later feeling his hamstring. Diaby put the cap on a fine second half display to lift the Gunners into second place ahead of Manchester United’s game at Hull later on Sunday.
Armand Tarore’s sweeping pass found Walcott on the right flank and he set up Fabregas for the second as Villa found Arsenal too hot to handle.
Abou Diaby then scored a wonder goal that capped off a fine performance from the Frenchman.
